Problem
If you want all PDF files to open in Adobe Reader only, click on Choose another app. In the pop-up that opens, select Adobe Reader and check the box next to Always use this app to open.pdf files. FireFox comes with it's own PDF viewer, and you need to turn that off before Adobe Acrobat or Reader can take over and display the PDF files. To open a PDF file you downloaded in Firefox, using a third party viewer: Open the Downloads panel by clicking the download icon next to the address bar. Right-click on the file folder icon of the PDF file and select Open Containing Folder. Then in the Downloads folder, right-click.
Client wants to open PDF files in Acrobat within Firefox instead of in Preview.
When she clicks on a PDF file, the only option to open with is Preview. Client has latest versions of both, and installed Acrobat after Firefox.
Solution

- Open a PDF in Firefox. At the Open with dialogue, click on the Automatically open with this setting... checkbox.
- Close Preview.
- From the menu bar of Firefox, click Firefox > Preferences and go to the Applications tab..
- In the window that appears, select the pdf extension and click on the action
- In the drop down that appears, select Acrobat.
- Exit out of the preferences. Now, whenever a PDF is clicked, it will automatically open in Adobe instead of Preview.
